HENNE is a brand that I have followed, shopped, have worked with and have loved seeing grown over the last few seasons. It is always a GO-TO for me and for my clients. Their Fashion week show this year was a highlight, showcasing the most amazing coats and blazers which I am  very excited to finally shop add them to my day to day wardrobe.

I spoke to the lovely Nadia Bartel about all things HENNE, her favourite pieces and what is next for the brand.

JESS:  How was HENNE born? And what made you take the leap into launching a brand?  

NADIA: I started Henne 4 years ago with the intention of creating long lasting wardrobe essentials. I was in search of those pieces that you always reach for in your wardrobe- those styles that last season after season and make you feel good when you are wearing them. If you are out at work, to dinner and everything in between.  

One of my main focuses was that I wanted amazing quality paired with a reasonable price point - that is still our focus to this day. 

It can be hard to take that initial leap into starting a business. I had the initial idea 10 years ago, but I didn’t know what steps to take to start. I knew jumping straight into launching my own brand with no experience would be a big leap, so I decided to start a womenswear retailer called The Con-nection with my sister in 2015 (it stocked many well known Australian brands) as a stepping-stone into the industry. It was amazing as we slowly built a loyal customer base and it allowed me to form a really good understanding of the Australian customer and what they wanted to wear. 

We learnt a lot from building up that business, and at the same time we were working on Henne behind the scenes, it was ready to launch in 2019 and we launched it softly by dropping pieces on The Con-nection website, this allowed us to test our styles.
